"Park of 12 Defenders" in Lepoglava, is a place of honor for Croatian defenders, who died for the freedom of the homeland. This concept includes the existing identity of the site, through the alley of 12 trees with a newly created content of the memorial. A tree-lined twelve trees, representing 12 Lepoglava defenders, follow the new park promenade, that leads to a new memorial sculpture as the ultimate point of experience. In an emotional sense, the open sky surface, mirrored in the polished surface of the metal, connects the world of the living with the world of those who died.

The memorial was shaped as a circle that symbolizes eternity and communion. On the edge, there are engraved names of Lepoglava defenders with the symbol of Croatian knitting. Croatian knitting apart from being an aesthetic feature of Croatia, is a detail of Croatian military uniform.
The center of the memorial is the surface of polished stainless steel, and depending on the angle of view, its reflection may be the sky, but also the crown of trees that symbolize fallen defenders. From a distant sight, the memorial looks like water surface. Negative reflections of sunlight are prevented by planting trees and shrubs. Minimalist shaping, which connects the existing and new space identity, creates a place of modesty with a sublime remembrance
idea.
